Interview with Dr. Richard F. Foster, manager of the Aquatic Biology Division at the Hanford plant His work is to study aquatic life in the Columbia River Freudian slip: we have a u-nuke kind of effluent in the Columbia River Various plankton, clams, crayfish, fish (bullhead, sturgeon), etc. in jars are examined They gather specimens, cremate them, then measure radioactivity in counter They also take water samples in special depth-weighted bottles

The results: fish pick up small amounts of radioactive material, not at all hazardous. From this angle, the operation of the plant is quite safe.
